When I graduated in 2023, Flanders was facing a major shortage of mathematics teachers. My father worked in education himself, so I knew how urgent the need was. I decided to take action and enrolled part-time in a Master of Education at the University of Antwerp, combining it with a full-time teaching job.

At the Koninklijk Atheneum Ekeren I replaced a teacher on maternity leave for four months. It turned out to be an incredibly instructive period: preparing lessons from scratch, adapting them to the level of each class, summarising complex material into its essence, keeping teenagers motivated and sharpening my communication and presentation skills every single day. Skills I still use in every professional context.
